What astrological events await us in January?

2020.01.06.

January starry sky is considered one of the most beautiful. High above the southern horizon, the constellations Orion, Taurus, and Charioteer rise. You can observe the brightest star in the night sky - Sirius, the famous nebulae: the Horse Head and the Orion Nebula, the most beautiful star clusters of the Pleiades and Hyades.
In addition, the constellation Gemini is also located high above the horizon in the southern region of the sky. The stars Castor (α Gemini) and Pollux (β Gemini) represent the heads of the Dioscuro twins. Below them is the Small Dog, and near the horizon - the Big Dog with the brightest star in the entire night sky of the Earth - Sirius. Three bright stars above the southern horizon make up the “winter triangle” asterism: Sirius (Alpha Canis Majorus), Betelgeuse (Alpha Orion) and Procyon (Alpha Canis Minor). To the east of Canis Minor, Cancer and the Lion rising above the horizon are located.
The Milky Way extends from the southeast to the northwest and runs near the zenith.
In the north, near the horizon, are Lyra and the Swan, above them Cepheus, to the east - the Northern Crown, Hercules, and above it - the Head of the Dragon. A well recognizable Ursa Major bucket is visible. In the northeast, near the horizon, the constellation Bootes rose. In January, Bootes rises high above the horizon in the eastern sky. In this constellation is the radiant of the New Year's Starfall Quadrantida.
On January 5, the Earth was at the closest distance from the Sun, which made it possible to observe the largest disk of the Sun of the year!
